BORN IN YOUNGSTOWN OHIO, A TWIN SON OF P. ARTHUR D'ORAZIO, ARCHITECT. I WAS TRAINED AS AN ARCHITECT AND BEGAN PAINTING JUST AFTER RECEIVING A MASTERS DEGREE IN ARCHITECTURE FROM COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY. I THEN MOVED INTO WESTBETH ARTIST'S COMMUNITY AND SOON AFTER BEGAN PRACTICING SHAMBHALA BUDDHIST MEDITATION.THE EARLY WORKS ARE PAINTINGS COMMUNICATING THE ENERGY AND WONDER OF NATURE. THEY BEGAN AS LARGE WASHY LANDSCAPES AND GRADUALLY BECAME RICHER, CULMINATING IN STRONG ENERGETIC SEASCAPES. A SERIES OF KOI PAINTINGS WERE BEGUN IN 1987. (TEN ADDITIONAL KOI PAINTINGS WERE DONE IN 2005). IN 1989 I TOOK A GIANT LEAP INTO ABSTRACTION. THIS WORK IS CONCERNED WITH SPACE AND PURE PERCEPTION. THE VISION IS EXPANSIVENESS AND WAKEFULNESS. THE PAINTINGS ARE EXPERIENTIAL. MANY ARE QUITE SPACIOUS AND SUBTLE, DEMANDING PATIENCE, WHILE INVITING A FRESH OUTLOOK. THE QUALITY OF LIGHT AND ONE'S MOVEMENT ABOUT THEIR SPACE IS INTEGRAL TO EXPERIENCING THEM
